  SauceReader is no more

qt8gt0bxhw|20009F4EEE83|RyanMain|subtext_Content|Text|0xfbff1101000000009700000001000c00

I wrote a post about my move to SauceReader as my RSS aggregator of choice a while ago. Sadly, Synop, the makers of SauceReader has closed their business and will no longer be updating SauceReader.

From the SauceReader website:

Synop has closed for business.
We're very proud of all we've accomplished both internally and by working closely with our customers and users. We appreciate all your interest and support.
The Sauce Reader product and source code are for sale.

Well, I guess my search is back on. I like SauceReader and all (you can still download the 2.0.1 beta from the SauceReader site), but using it i've been patient, knowing that fixes to issues that bug me would get fixed at some point. Knowing they won't now, I'll move to something else for sure. I'll likely just move back to RSSBandit, but I guess we'll see.

Ryan, I just moved to RSSBandit, mostly to get close to the source. AC has me almost sold on FeedDemon though. I posted on this yesterday and AC added some good stuff.

Thanks Dave! From you that's a big compliment, I've always loved your blog skin.

I made the switch to RSS Bandit before (See http://ryanfarley.com/blog/archive/2004/05/14/629.aspx). It's not that I didn't like it, it was just not moving in a direction I liked, but I'm sure I'll end back up there again now.

Thanks for the kind words on my skin. The ol' CS skin may suffer for a bit since I'm feeling the pull to CS 1.1 and may have to go more barebones for a bit until I decide on what mods I need to make to find blogging joy.

As for your skin, I love how you pay such attention to detail with the faded code in the upper right, your pic, title font and shadows (not too much shadow...just right), the square transitional between the lighter and darker in the menubar. Tasty. I'm also a sucker for the green arrows. I use them whenever I can. Finally, I've also never seen a captcha word widge. How cool.

Let us know what happens in the RSS Reader department.

I liked playing with Sauce Reader but I couldn't handle the toolbar within the tabs, which is exactly where IE7 is going (boo). RSS Bandit isn't the end all be all, but it's making some good progressions. I think once Dare implements the "conversation tracking" peice, which I've been dying to have for months, it will make blogging and commenting much easier to keep track of. Having the source readily available also doesn't hurt.

I saw your site and wanted to mention a couple good sites for intellectual property research:

    http://www.FreePatentsOnline.com
    http://www.SumoBrain.com

These sites provide free patent searching, along with free PDF downloading (bulk downloads possible on SumoBrain), annotating and sharing documents with other users, free alerts for new documents, and more.

If you have a spot, a link to let your users know about the site would be excellent.
